In Memory
This page is dedicated to Mamma Lucky, the Queen of South Branch.
August 1992-December 2005
“All that we love deeply…becomes a part of us.” Helen Keller
Lucky was a loyal companion to all of us at South Branch. She was also Sophie’s Mamma.
Lucky’s antics put a smile on our faces and laughter in our hearts daily. Her kingdom was South Branch and the other Goldens respected and followed her lead.
She knew how to “talk” her way into a ride in the truck, just one more treat, and more pets than most dogs could ever dream of. She loved to roll in the smelliest mud she could find, bury a bone in a big pile of sawdust and always remember where to find it, and chase and sometimes catch any animal that didn’t “belong” in her kingdom.
Lucky had the spring of a puppy in her step throughout her life. She knew how to live life for each day and she danced to the rhythm of her own Golden music. If we listened, we could hear it when we were with her.
Lucky could look into your eyes and tell you what you were thinking. She knew each of us for who we were and accepted our individuality. She still loved us when we were in a bad mood. She patiently listened to us complain and then with a look, a nudge, and a wag, reminded us that tomorrow would be a new day. She would even act extra silly and dance extra fancy on those grey days when we needed a little more sunshine in our hearts.
She would lovingly “cry” to those of us she hadn’t seen in a while to tell us how much we meant to her and go on and on about how much she had missed us. Of course, we cried back. She always remembered us no matter how many miles or how much time passed since our last visit.
To say that Lucky was smart is an understatement. Lucky was brilliant. Now, she’s a true Diamond in the Sky.
Lucky’s love for us was unconditional and so was ours for her. She was part of our family and part of our lives. We’ll always remember Lucky and we thank God for blessing us with her companionship, understanding and unconditional love.
She was our very special “Lucky” dog.
Mamma Lucky passed through Life’s Golden Gate in December of 2005.
We know she’s shining brightly up there. Lucky’s in God’s kingdom now.
