Here are some letters from our South Branch Customers (and their Goldens)...
Via the Internet:
Karen, I'm not sure if you remember us, but we got a puppy from you almost 2 years ago this fall. "Henry" has been just an incredible dog. He has the most wonderful temperament you could ever ask for and recently received his Delta Dog certification. He's been visiting many of the hospitals in the Madison area with his handler, Artie Berning, who just happens to be my mother-in-law. She's had many, many people approach her about who his breeder was, where you're located, etc...Thank you again for Henry. We couldn't be happier.

Holly, Here (above and below) are some pictures of Henry in his Delta Dog "uniform". He's been very busy lately, making regular visits to Meriter and University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics here in Madison. Soon, he will be starting some additional training soon so he can work in their Physical Therapy Department. So many people have commented on his calm nature and they can't believe that he's only 2 years old. We couldn't be happier with him and it's so heart-warming to see the response that he gets from the patients he visits. Their eyes just light up!! It's really a testament to how much the love of an animal can assist in the healing process. Many blessings to you and your family, John, Teresa, Caleb, Ethan and Henry (woof!!) Poynette, Wisconsin

Below a picture of our wonderful customer Dick at Pick Up with his South Branch Puppy, "Bailey." Dick and his family are from Sun Prairie, WI...see more picts of Bailey below. They were taken about one month apart to show how quickly puppies grow!
Dick wrote to us: "...So I wanted you to know you we picked the right breeder and the right dog. He is a challenge at times (as all puppies are I think) but mostly he is awesome. Today we are going visiting again to see my 91 yo mother...she loves Bailey. It cheers her up so much! Thanks for all your help, and if you don't mind, I'll keep you updated on Bailey. Attached are a few photos of the growing boy."

sent via email December 09: "Hi Karen, Blessings of this holiday season to you and your family. We simply love our Daisy and Wrigley. After many training and behavior classes, mostly beneficial for me, Daisy and Wrigley are both certified as Therapy Dogs. As teams, we have volunteered to visit nursing homes, 3 hospitals, and often go to schools for reading programs and libraries. Wrigley and I passed our certification last August and Daisy and I passed in September. Wrigley has made 24 visits and Daisy 3...we're just getting started...she missed while in heat. They are the LOVES of our family...they couldn't be better companions. May God continue to bless you. We are grateful for your gift in Goldens! Attached are a few pics. Enjoy! Blessings to you, Sandy and Chuck Book"

Woody is a real gem!! We are so pleased with him and all 5 of us adore him. He is smart, a quick learner and easy to train ... just a high quality dog all around. He is also loads of fun to play with. I realize he is a Golden Retriever so one would expect him to retrieve, but we have had labs in the past that really were not very good retrievers. Woody just retreives and retreives. He loves to run after whatever we throw (balls, frisbees, stuffed animals) and obediently brings the toy back to me and drops the toy at my feet. I am always so proud of him when I take him out with me. He goes everywhere with me. He will be 7 months old in 9 days. Enjoy the pictures ...Jill
I just wanted to give you the latest picture of Cobi. We love him so much. He is such apart of the family, it's unbelievable. It is weird to think about life without him. We hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year. Terri, Niki, and Ashley
Hi Karen,
I thought I would send a picture of Marissa from this summer it reminded me so much of her mom Honey. She is the best dog we just love her so much. Thank You for raising wonderful dogs.
Shelley, Allen and Kendra
Karen, You had asked me to send some pix of our puppy, Ajax (pictured below)...(born 1/24/07)...he's super cute and has a great personality and sits and shakes well, too. We're working on "come" & "stay" now. Much harder. We'll likely need puppy school to assist with that one! he's been a wonderful addition to the house. My kids LOVE him. He's a mild-mannered guy, except around other dogs--he's a social animal. He LOVES his dog pals! Thanks! We may have to get another one! Gwen

Karen,
Our new puppy 'Trevor' has fit right in to our home and family. His temperament is just wonderful. He is so good with our one year old grandson. Other than too many kisses (if that's possible) we have not had to be concerned that the puppy plays too rough of even nibbles too hard. He is so much fun and very smart. Our granddaughter is such a little caregiver to 'her' puppy. She really listened to you when you went over all the puppy care instructions and paperwork with us - she makes sure that this puppy is being cared for properly (so you have no need to worry).
Our cocker spaniel is learning to accept him, she occasionally growls at him from one end but her stubby tail is going 'a mile a minute' on the other end. They will get along just fine, especially once she discovered that licking out Trevor's food dish is pretty tasty. She tries to prove that she is the boss dog of the house but that doesn't seem to mean anything to Trevor. He is so mellow and just seems to take life in stride. We introduced him to our older lab mix, Molly, and he instantly rolled to his back and let her check him over. She took to him immediately. She watches out for him like a mother and he has renewed her energy level.
I am very impressed at how well our puppy listens and has understood basic commands right from the time we brought him home. You must spend a lot of quality time preparing your puppies for their new homes. He is really well with the potty training. He learns so quick that I don't think this will be an issue for long.
Trevor is a wonderful addition to our family and we look forward to enjoying him for many years to come.
Thanks again,
Shelly
With the Grandkids, below...

Here's some new pictues of Lilly that we took yesterday...As you can see, she's getting to be a big girl...We took Lilly to the farmer's market yesterday and it was her first trip. But we only got to a few booths as everyone that passed us had to stop and pet her and ask us what kind of breed she was and wanted to know where we got her. She seems to cause quite a stir here. But we like to take her with us as it's good for her socialization skills and we love to show her off...Best regards, Jan

Dear Karen,
Our liitle Gracie is the biggest hit in the neighborhood....everyone is stopping by to make her feel welcome!
She is the sweetest and dearest littlest girl in the area. We knew she would like to be a gardener as your pictures suggested and she has lived up to our expectations, she is trying to gather all of the leaves of the area right into her own little space! She is a love, we have been so blessed, you have made our lives to be filled with such joy....she is indeed our own AMAZING GRACIE!!!! Mike and Maxine

Hi Karen,
We are absolutely in love with little “Lucy”! She has acclimated so easily into our family and home. We are amazed by how smart, sweet and gentle she is. She’s already sitting (for treats, of course!) and is well on her way to being house trained after just a few short days. She’s made our home a very popular destination in the neighborhood! Thanks for all you did to raise such a beautiful pup. She’s doing her mom and dad proud!
P.S. Thought you'd enjoy seeing how loved she is...see the attached picture (below) of Lucy and Kate.~Sara

Hello! I hope all is well at South Branch! I promise I will not give you "updates" on Holly Bear every week for the rest of her life... I just wanted to tell you that TODAY... only 5 days after bringing her home... she is sitting in front of the door when she wants to go outside!! I am so excited :) She is such a good girl! She is so frisky and so funny!! Thank you again! Holly Bear and Timmy are going to be partners in crime... they both have the same level of curiosity and mischievousness! Have a great day!~Susie
Hi Karen,
(Jan. 2007) I can't tell you how much we adore our little Lilly. She's a real gem! She slept through the night last night, from 8 till 5:30 so we all got a good night's sleep. She seems to have the sweetest disposition. She'll come right to our feet as if she's been trained to "sit" and then just look into our eyes as to say, "Please pick me up and hug me" to which we certainly oblige...Our room looks like a baby nursery and we both love that. There's nothing more precious than a new puppy or a new baby.
We're going to take her to our vet today just to introduce her. I know she'll love her too.
Our friends and family have all so enjoyed your incredible website. It's certainly evident that you have a special love of family and of course, your beautiful dogs. I especially loved your "In Memory" site. I cried at reading the quote as it is so true...(they buried their Golden, Hannah, last week)
'Lilly' loves to ride in the car and we take her everywhere with us. She has brought so much joy into our lives.
I'm even talking of getting another companion for her next year.
I'll keep you updated with pictures and stories. Thanks so much. We both think it is a real blessing to have found you. Best regards, Jan
Hi Karen! We picked up a light golden puppy from you back in June from Karvin's first litter. He's doing great! We love him so much - he's been so much fun and is a good learner. We've attached a few pictures (see below) - we took him down to Atlanta for the Fourth of July, and take him to the park in Chicago often. He's met his "cousins" - our families' other dogs - and they along great! We start a puppy school tonight, and we're sure he's going to be the best of the class :)Thanks again for everything - we truly love Henry and are so glad that we found South Branch online. Feel free to post our comments/picture on your Web site! We'll send you more pictures as Henry grows...which as you know is a daily occurrence! Best, Allison and Dave

Hi Karen, We thought you would like to see some pictures of our Addie at a year old. She is the joy of our lives and the most popular dog in the neighborhood. So many people stop and ask us about her. She's loving, playful, and so well behaved (most of the time)! Thank you for caring so lovingly for your dogs. They bring joy to so many lives! Ann, Doug, and Addie
Hi Karen, We just wanted to send you some updated pictures of Henry. He is five months old now and just recently finished his first training class. He won an award for being best in the class!! He has developed such a friendly personality and loves having us nearby. As you can tell by the pictures, he is quite the swimmer as well.Have you received any updated pictures of his brothers or sisters? We would love to see how they are doing. Hope all is well! Dave

Hi...Our daughter is a buyer for Marshall Fields and picture frames is part of her area, so when frames for the Fall were purchased she submitted Griffey's picture (see above) as one for display which was accepted. Of course you may use this information and I sent you the original picture along with this e-mail. I see you have some new dogs they look great as do all of your dogs. Can't wait for more pictures of the puppies as they get older. Ken and Lynn
Hi Karen, I am sending you a photo of Griffey as he appears in several picture frames. These frames will be sold nation wide in Macy's (Marshall Fields) and they will have color photos of Griffey as the display picture at the stores. This should happen in October (2006), I Believe there is a store in Appleton. I hope you get a chance to see the display.
Griffey is doing well and is still a wonderful dog, we could not be more pleased with him.
I hope all is well with you and your family...If you ever are in our area please feel free to stop in, Griffey and ourselves would love to see you. Ken
Hi Karen: Sorry about not writting you back sooner...Louise (see above) is doing very well, She has gained about 8lbs & loves to play with her sisters. She goes after Thelma with no problem(she dosen't know she's a baby) & Molson tolorates her. We have taken her to several art fairs to get her socialized & she loves it. She is house broken & goes on mile long walks with Dawn & the neighbors. Please stay in touch we love hearing from you, And thank you for bringing Louise into this world & our hearts...Thanks Ed & Dawn
Karen, Hi! It was great speaking with you today. As I mentioned, the pup is doing really well. She has had hardly any accidents. The kids and neighbors love her and so does our other dog, Winnie. We mentioned that Winnie's behavior had been worse then usual since Yogi passed away. Her transformation since the pup has come home is amazing! The cat is not enamored, however! I have attached a few pics I just took in our backyard. By the way...we have named her.... Baby Bit-O-Hunny. We are just calling her Baby for short. Take care, Lesley
Just wanted to let you know Griffin is doing well and now weighs almost 50 pounds he loves the back yard and water(only when he starts to smell like a dog and gets a bath) and plays every day with Winston our neighbor's 18 month golden, they "body slam" and wrestle/doggie fight until they had enough. To add to that our other neighbor just got a 8 week old Golden and now it's a "3 Some" with the 2 big boys checking out the little one. Tell Honey and Otto they did GOOD!! You too!!...
Thanks for the wonderful Golden. Jeff
Hi Karen: Just thought I would send you a couple pictures of Winnie. She is doing great. She is chewing/biting up a storm...Hope you enjoy the photos. We just love her. Dina
Hi Karen...Just wanted to send you a quick email to tell you thank you! We picked up our little boy from you last Saturday and he is wonderful! We were amazed at how well-behaved he is! We named him Murphy! He is doing so well and loves our big backyard. Rich and I are so happy! I will send you pictures soon! Thanks again! ~Jennifer
Hi Karen, I just thought I would send you a few pictures of what we have been up to. Ginger (see below) is so wonderful. We took Jack swimming at our sister's house and as you can see, Ginger followed me right in, I was suprised she was brave enough to come in the water. I think she will be a fish. She is also so good at night when we go to bed it is great that she is potty trained already! I just can't believe it. She is so perfect. I hope you enjoy the pictures. I will send you more as she grows. Thanks again! Erica & Rod

Hi Karen! First of all, it was so lovely meeting your family. I can tell that you are caring breeders. I loved that you cared enough to share all the important information regarding the pup. Thank you for that. Charlie has been such a surprise! I knew he was a special pup when I met him, but wow! I never knew of a pup that was potty-trained at 6 weeks!...he is so quiet at night in his crate and never has an accident! I am telling everyone and they just don't believe it! He loves to play with my son and they just have a blast together. Charlie likes to play in the snow and sniff around. I am just so surprised how easy he is. He has such a wonderful temperament. He is not phased when my son is making noises when he's napping. He's not scared easily. He is just SO perfect for us. He's our family and we love him dearly. Words cannot express how happy I am. My thought since I got Charlie is, "why didn't I get two?" Charlie is so easy and effortless and loveable, I thought it would be no big deal to get another one and I am considering it for the future. It's just a dream come true. He loves to cuddle and play and get his ears rubbed. Please let me know if you want a new reference for your website as I am a very satisfied customer. Everyone was telling me that having a toddler and a puppy would be very tough, but they were so wrong! Charlie and Franklin are best friends already and it's just incredible. We are all very much in love. A gorgeous pup with a gorgeous spirit and temperament . . that's how I'd describe Charlie. Overall, Charlie is everything I hoped for and more. He is a dream come true for me and a best friend for my son. Could I ask for anything more? I think not. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! A Very Satisfied Customer, Alicen
Karen, Thank you so much! She is absolutely beautiful! She had no accidents on her trip and she was ready to play. She was sick of riding by the time I got her home because the airport is about 50 miles from our house too...Talk to you soon, Sharon
Well life with Addie has been the wonderful experience we hoped it would be. She is healthy, happy, friendly, and kind to all. Here are some recent pictures of what she is maturing into. What a wonderful friend. Just thought we would share with you how happy she has made our life. Doug
Karen, ...This picture was taken within a few weeks of when we brought her home (April 1st, 2005). Autumn is now more than 1 year old, and she is happy and healthy…and much bigger than on this photo. We love her so much and probably spoil her more than we should, but she is our baby. Barb
Hi Karen: Just wanted you to know that Katy is wonderful!! She did great on the way home, and has not messed in the house yet, we just love her!... We are just so excited to have her and be reassured that we will take very good care of your baby :)Talk to you soon, Maureen
Karen: We thought you might like to see an updated picture of Cooper. He has been just a wonderful dog and friend to Buddy. They both enjoy the outdoors and play wonderfully together. Our youngest daughter works with Cooper in puppy kindergarten.Thank you so much for the great addition to our family. Best to you and your family. Todd
Hi Karen, I visit your web site often and saw that you have another litter available in March. Congratulations! We are so happy with our Addie. She is beautiful, healthy, and wonderful. I can't believe how big she's gotten! From the tiny handful we picked out to the 35 pound, five-month-old lapful we have now...they do grow quickly! Everyone who sees her stops us and asks where we got her. We're South Branch's biggest fans:) My dad calls her "wormnose" because of the "ridge" on her nose. We love it and hope she doesn't grow out of it (that way we can pick her out in a line-up). Thank you for our beautiful baby. Enjoy the pictures! Ann & Doug
A few pics of Winchester
Sleeping with Jim on the floor, with granddaughter Tayler, and outside. He is the BEST friend a person could have!

Hi Holly, Just wanted to send you a picture of Phoenix. She loves the snow! We talk nearly every day about what a great dog she is. She was easy to train, very loyal and affectionate. Hope all is well with you and Sophie. We are looking forward to summer. Take care, LexAnn

Dear Karen,
10-20-05: Once again, I was thinking of you and just have to tell you how wonderful Laverne and Shirley are. I really love these girls. I will be going over with Wendy to pick up her puppies so I will see you then. Thanks a million, Lory
The pups are all beautiful…How is mamma Sophie doing? Phoenix is doing well. She really does try to be the boss. I frequently call her “Sassy Pants” like you stated in your email. This week she discovered the pond next to our home. She loves the water…We can’t wait to take her up the lake to swim and such. The pond gets mucky but she doesn’t mind a bit. I weighed her today and she is up to 19 pounds. She is growing like a weed, eats well. We had our home landscaped this past week and she can’t understand why she can’t eat the flowers and shrubs. When I scold her she gives me a look like you wouldn’t believe. We really are very happy and love her to death.
Phoenix Update: Hi Holly, Just thought I would send a few pictures of Phoenix. We went up to the cabin this weekend and she had a blast again. She loves the water and continues to be awesome at retrieving. She does very well with other dogs. She is great in the car too....very calm and relaxed, slept most of the way home on her back.
Phoenix Update 9-20-05 Hi Holly, ...we are just proud of her and think she is absolutely beautiful. Her coat and color are gorgeous. We adore her. This picture is her waiting for the chipmunks in our yard.
See more pictures of Phoenix on the Sophie pages.
I just wanted to give you an update of Tahoe--He is really great! He sits, speaks and downs on command (most of the time). He and Seeker are still best buds-Reno is even becoming more tolerant of him (we caught him pulling on Reno's ear and Reno didn't do anything!). We bought him a wading pool several weeks ago and he and Seeker are in it all the time. When we set the pool up Tahoe jumped right in and then proceeded to pee in it! But as my daughter said "typical boy in a swimming pool". Oh, he is also growing in leaps and bounds-he'll be 14 weeks old and as of today he weighs 34 1/2 pounds! Thanks again for this great little boy! See pictures of Tahoe on the Sophie pages.
This pic is so cute, I had to send it to you. Abby is doing fantastic. She is such a happy little girl. So smart, too. She has brought so much joy to our lives. She caught a bird the other day. When I tried to take it away from her she swallowed it. The head was stuck in her throat & the feet were dangling out her mouth. I had to pry her mouth open while Chuck pulled the thing out by its feet. The fun just never stops! Have a great day!
More from Abby's Mom... Just wanted to share some recent pics with you. She was 28.1# on Saturday, gaining 3/4 of a pound every day. WOW I've never had a happier dog - she loves everything about life every minute of every day. Smart as a whip & naughty as the devil!! We love her so much!! Give Soph's a kiss & thank her for this precious gift!
See pictures of Abby on the Sophie pages.
Dear Karen, Thought you would like to know that our pup--Skippy--is doing great!! He is much larger than the pictures I am now sending. He is even more beautiful and graceful. We love him so much and he is a great blessing to us. He learns fast and trains well and loves to please. The children have bonded with him and our older daughter has been taking him on 2 to 3 walks during this summer break. I too have seriously considered showing him...The Meyer Family Here's Remington at 8 months... --The Wilke Family --Wes & Chelsea Hi There, We are enjoying the puppy we bought from you last year...He is very lovey and smart. Other than pulling my rose bushes...out by the roots and his love of jumping up on me, he's been perfectly super. Aaron (16) obedience trained him and got a 1st place at the County Fair. He'll do more next summer. Thank you again. We are enjoying Oakley. Here's a photo for you and he is smiling. --Marilyn Dear Karen, Just a quick note to let you know Lily is doing just great! She is a beautiful dog and extremely smart! Stacia is currently taking her to obedience classes and plans to work on CD & CDX titles with her...She has a great sense of hunting, retrieving and swimming...I have recommended you to interested people...Thanks for a great dog! --The Zierler Family We thought you would like to see Daisy--she's the one in the back, of course. We love her. She's become a very caring member of our family.
Karen, Thanks again for talking with me about the vaccinations over the phone just now. I really appreciate it. It was nice to hear your voice again. Since I have your email I thought I'd send some pictures of Tajer--that's what we named him. He's 1 1/2 yrs old now. We absolutely love him! He is such a laid back great guy. Whenever we know of anyone who is looking for a puppy, we tell them about you. We couldn't be more pleased. He's our PURPLE #4. Do you remember that? We wondered if we picked out the right puppy that first visit and as we were driving home, we reached under the seat looking for a remote to the CD player and grabbed a purple, #4 golf ball instead!!! Then when we came to pick him up, you had a folder laid out for us. It was purple!!! We hope you enjoy these pictures. I'll be sending 2 different emails so you get a good look at him. Thanks again for him, he's wonderful. We also appreciate you sharing the info on worming- that is done on the 4th of the month--guess why we picked that number? --The Zimmerman Family

As you can see, I'm a busy puppy. My job is to guard the door and I'm usually sleeping on the job (see above). This is my brother Sam's toy (see below) but he lets me snuggle with it. I'm starting school next week. Sam's been teaching me stuff. Mom and Dad are proud.
Love Gus

Hello Karen- (via email)
I just wanted you to know that Dustin and I are so happy with our new puppy 'Shadow'. He loved to follow both of us around so much all the time, that his name came naturally. He is so adorable and loving.
The potty training is going very well, and he learns quickly. We will be enrolling in a basic training puppy course once he's 12 weeks, and we know he'll do great.
Shadow has already really picked up on each of our personalities and responds to each of us a little differently. Of course he loves the rough play with Dustin, but knows that I like a little calmer play.
We went for our vet checkup and everyone immediately fell in love with his cute little fluffy puppy face. All we kept hearing from everyone was "He's going to be HUGE!" We are so excited to watch him grow, which he's done A LOT of already.
We've already got pictures of just about everything, and we still keep taking more. I'll have to e-mail you a few when I get a chance. Shadow is eating well and playing a lot. He loves giving kisses to everyone. He also loves bath time.
Thank you so much again for all of your advice and money saving tips you shared with us.
Keep in touch,
Kelly and Dustin and of course Shadow :)
